MURALS ON MAIN IS A REVITALIZATION EFFORT TO BRING MORE MURALS TO MAIN STREET IN TAZEWELL BY HAVING BUILDING OWNERS IN TOWN DONATE THEIR EMPTY WALL SPACE TO CREATE COLORFUL EXPERIENCES BY LOCAL ARTISTS AND ORGANIZATIONS

REVITALIZING THE MINI PARK

(PARTNERING WITH THE TOWN OF TAZEWELL AND LOCAL ARTISTS)

WE ARE CURRENTLY TEAMING UP WITH THE TOWN OF TAZEWELL AND LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER / ARTIST VIOLET ASBURY TO CREATE A NEW EXPERIENCE AT OUR MINI PARK ON MAIN STREET. THE PROJECT WILL CONSIST OF A NEW MURAL, NEW ADIRONDACK CHAIRS, PICNIC TABLES, PLANTINGS BY TAZEWELL PUBLIC LIBRARY.

GREEN SPACE PROJECT

MAIN STREET PARK - EAT PLAY SHOP

GREEN SPACE PROJECT WOULD UTILIZE AN ALREADY EMPTY GREEN LOT (APPROX 1.67 ACRES) PARALLEL TO MAIN STREET (BESIDE 329 WEST MAIN STREET) INTO THRIVING GREEN SPACE. MAIN STREET PARK WILL KEEP MAIN STREET OPEN FOR MANY MANAGEABLE INDEPENDENT EVENTS, ADD MORE EVENT SPACE TO PRE-EXISTING EVENTS, AND CREATE A GREEN SPACE FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO GATHER IN.

MAIN STREET PARK WOULD BE UTILIZED AS A SPACE FOR RELAXATION, A SPACE TO EAT AT PICNIC TABLES, FOR CHILDREN TO PLAY, PEOPLE TO REST, AND AN AREA TO SIT UNDER FLOWERING CHERRY BLOSSOM TREES. THE PROJECT INCLUDES A CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND, AND CHILDREN'S GARDEN AREA, AND A COMMUNITY EVENT SPACE. 


  • PARK WILL INCLUDE SMALL PLAYGROUND FOR CHILDREN, PAIRED WITH A 2 BAY SWING

  • CHILDS COMMUNITY GARDEN THAT WORKS DIRECTLY WITH THE LIBRARY GARDEN CLUB ( LIBRARY HAS SEVERAL MASTER GARDENERS) SPRING CLASSES AND SUMMER CAMPS WOULD BE INCLUDED 


  • PICNIC TABLES (5) AREA FOR TAKING FOOD (TO GO) FROM LOCAL RESTAURANTS OR FARMERS MARKETS / MAKERS MARKETS NEAR BY 


  • PARKING AREA FOR FOOD TRUCK RALLYS, MARKETS AND REGULAR PARKING FOR REGULAR HOURS


  • PARKING FOR THE PARK WOULD ACCESSED BY PARKING BEHIND OR ON MAIN STREET. 


  • POP-UP AREA NEAR MAIN STREET FOR SEASONAL FESTIVITIES, FUNDRAISING, MOVIE NIGHTS, AND POTENTIALLY A SECOND STAGE AND ENTERTAINMENT AREA DURING FESTIVALS. 


• OTHER OPTIONS / ADDITIONS: STAIRS, PATHS, TRAILS, GAZEBO, PAVILION, DIGITAL KIOSK AREA , FOUNTAIN, POND, BATHROOM ETC.

PHASE 1: MAIN STREET PARK (2022)

  • DUMPSTER IS RENTED (USED TO COLLECT ALL DEBRIS FROM THE AREA)

  • APPROPRIATE MACHINE IS USED FOR CLEANUP AND GROUNDWORK

  • TERRACE THE SLOPE: RETAINING WALLS COULD BE PUT IN OR MORE DIRT COULD BE USED TO MAKE THE SLOPE LESS STEEP (SUGGEST 3 LARGE TIERS)

  • AREA WOULD BE FLATTENED FOR POP-UP NEAR MAIN STREET AND MADE LARGER (ALL FLATTENED TERRACES WOULD BE MADE LARGER)

  • LAND WOULD NEED TO BE GRADED, LEVELED IN AREAS, THEN SEEDED

  • PICNIC TABLES PURCHASED AND BUILT

  • CHILDS COMMUNITY GARDEN BUILT (GARDEN AND DEER FENCING SURROUNDING GARDEN) POSSIBLE TRAIL FOR KIDS LEADING FROM LIBRARY TO GARDEN

  • DIGITAL KIOSK INSTALLED
